The Empire Builder is the name for this long-distance train that boards in Chicago and takes the northern route to the West Coast. Arrive in Chicago and enjoy a sneak preview of this fantastic city - one of the most ethnically diverse and architecturally celebrated cities in America. Start your journey in Chicago before heading into the unspoiled country of North Dakota and Montana. While in Montana, visit Glacier National Park and in Alberta, visit Canada's Waterton Lakes National Park. Your trip continues west to Seattle, passing through the seven-mile Cascade Tunnel, forests of fir trees and alongside Puget Sound. Seattle, known as the Emerald City, is a gem in the Pacific Northwest, surrounded by water and mountains, with stunning views throughout the city.

Note: Glacier Park package is for passengers arriving and departing at East Glacier Station. Tours depend upon weather conditions. Glacier Park is a seasonal destination and is closed for the winter months. Passengers arriving into Whitefish from the West may require an additional day of car rental.
Itinerary:
Day 1Arrive in Chicago
Take Amtrak or fly from a city near your home town to Chicago. Welcome to Chicago, known as the "Windy City" or the Second City. Take a walk down the Magnificent Mile for world-class shopping, dining and attractions. Enjoy dinner at Tuscany. (Overnight in Chicago at Hilton Chicago)
Day 2Chicago to Glacier National Park
Enjoy your choice of River/Waterfront tour or a standard city tour. Self-transfer to Union Station in Chicago to board the Amtrak Empire Builder to Glacier National Park. Enjoy private Sleeping car accommodations onboard the train and meals in the Dining car. (Overnight on train)
Day 3Arrive Glacier National Park
Today you will arrive in Glacier National Park where you will find unspoiled beauty among mountains, forests, wildlife and, of course, glaciers. You will check in at the Glacier Park Lodge, which is within walking distance of the rail station. (Overnight at Glacier Park Lodge)
Day 4Explore Glacier National Park
Today you will take either the Old North Trail Tour (or Big Sky Circle Tour depending on season) or International Peace Park Tour. The International Peace Park tour will include crossing the U.S./Canada border to Waterton Lakes for a visit to the Prince of Wales Hotel and enjoy afternoon tea. The Prince of Wales is one of the most photographed hotels in North America with its jaw-dropping backdrop. (Overnight at Glacier Park Lodge)
Day 5Glacier National Park
Today you will continue touring with the Secret Valley Tour before returning to the Glacier Park Lodge for your final night's stay in Glacier Park. (Overnight at Glacier Park Lodge)
Day 6Glacier National Park to Seattle
Enjoy your final day relaxing at the Glacier Park Lodge before departing on the Empire Builder for Seattle. Late checkout at 1:00 p.m. with plenty of optional activities available for guests. You'll board the train with sleeping accommodations for your overnight journey to Seattle. (Overnight on train)
Day 7Arrive in Seattle
Upon arrival in Seattle, you'll transport on own to your Seattle Hotel. "Metronatural" Seattle offers both a thriving urban center and a healthy natural environment. Your day is at your leisure with admission and dinner to The Space Needle. (Overnight at the Warwick Hotel)
Day 8Explore Seattle
Today enjoy either a hop on/hop off tour of Seattle or a 60-minute boat cruise of Seattle Harbor. The tour will stop at many of Seattle's most visited sites. (Overnight at the Warwick Hotel)
Day 9Vacation ends in Seattle
Take Amtrak or fly from Seattle to a city near your home town.
